Ashover Camp Checklist - Hagg Farm 2012

1. Wash bag with minimum: soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and hairbrush/comb (unless you're Trevor in which case a duster and polish).

2. Towel. Swimmers should bring an extra one. Never be caught without your towel!* We will be swimming at Matlock this year so this is important!

3. Tea towel. Campers will starve without one. It's also this year's must-have fashion accessory. Mandatory!

4. NOT REQUIRED - Sleeping bag. The dorms have bunk beds with linen, duvets and pillows.

5. Waterproof coat. Remember that we are camping at the height of British Summertime - Make that two coats, a sou'wester and wellies! Wellies can also double as part of the party fancy dress - theme "Farmyard".

6. Walking shoes. Trendy trainers and fashion shoes just don't cut it in the Derbyshire mud. Boots or wellies that are suitable for lots and lots and lots of walking. Oh, and did we mention the puddles and cow pats?

7. Swimming costumes. These are not for beauty contests. They're for swimming in Matlock when the leaders get a battering from the kids. Don't miss your chance! Confirmation: We will be swimming at Matlock this year so this is important!

8. Torch and spare batteries. You can buy batteries in Matlock but most of the week's gone by then. Don't be left in the dark by a torch accidentally switched on in your bag. Have spare batteries.

9. A reasonable amount of Spending money for sweets, Matlock, Drayton Manor and the Ashover Village Tuck Shop (supplying your confectionary, ice cream and fizzy pop needs since ooh way back when!). £25 is ample and please remember to use the Camp Bank.

10. Medication if needed. First Aiders should be notified on arrival if you have any medication with you and should have already been notified via the medical forms of the reason for the medication.

11. Suntan lotion. It might be Summer but you never know! Particular high risk times are while hiking and at Blackpool. Even if it's not bright sunshine it's still easy to get burnt if you're outside for a long time. If you get burnt it will spoil your holiday so be prepared.

12. Warm clothes. Surprisingly, the even though the dorms are centrally heated it can still be very cold during the day so have something to wrap up warm in.

13. Friendly helpful attitude. It'll help you stay alive. Good manners can also get you out of lots of dirty jobs.
